From his studio in Tairāwhiti Gisborne, Sir Derek Lardelli creates stunning pieces of artwork inspired by his vision.

Manu (the bird) is a Kaitiaki (protector or guardian) of the people. This piece is has a striking silhouette, and use of mixed media.

This one of kind piece is created from native timber, acrylic paint, paua inlay, copper nails and steel plating and measures 1115 x 800 mm.

The kaitiaki (protector) will be provided to its new owner upon the close of the exhibition in late November.
